- The Dustin Pittsley Band is a rockin’ jam band with a heavy blues influence as well as that “Tulsa Sound”. Dustin Pittsley has been playing guitar professionally since he was 17, performing at both of his home town's most historic venues, Cain’s Ballroom and the Brady Theater in Tulsa, OK, by the time he was 20. He has shared the stage with such heavy hitters as Ian Moore, Arlo Guthrie, Chris Duarte, Tab Benoit, Watermelon Slim and Bernard Allison. He has opened for top names such as Indigenous and Delbert McClinton and most recently was hand selected by Dierks Bentley to open for 5 of his shows on the Jagermeister Country Tour this past Spring. Jagermeister has sponsored Dustin since 2009.
Last year the Dustin Pittsley Band won the Beale Street Blues Kings award at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. The band competed in the IBC both 2010 and 2011 where the coveted Beale Street challenge is sponsored by the hosting clubs who nominate their favorite bands. He has shared the stage with such heavy hitters as Ian Moore, Kevin Bowe, Arlo Guthrie, Chris Duarte, Tab Benoit, Watermelon Slim and Bernard Allison.
The Dustin Pittsley Band consists of Dustin on lead guitar and vocals, Donnie Wood on bass, and Doug Wehmeyer on drums. Jesse Ayecock will also be joining the band again on pedal steel and slide guitar and vocals.

Trunko, Kirkland, & Briggs bringing a combined fifty plus years of teaching, have been called a "Swallow Hill faculty super group." In their own well-crafted compositions and in their inventive arrangements of other writer's songs, they create the Southern Blues/Rock jam band feel of such legends as the Allman Brothers, Bob Dylan, the Grateful Dead, and Lynard Skynard.
Paul Trunko, on guitar, has for a number of years played with the nationally recognized Dead tribute band, Shakedown Street, and has fronted his own bands, One Kind Favor, and the Keepers.
Stef Briggs, on keyboards, has played since the age of four. For ten years she played in a Doors tribute band, and also plays with Chris Thompson and Coral Creek.
Clay Kirkland, on harmonica, has taken the blues into unusual territory performing with such diverse musicians as Sleepy John Estes, the Colorado Symphony, the Royal Musicians of Nepal, and Willie Nelson.

A Life in the blues, best describes 84 -year old Louisiana delta blues man Willie Houston. Willie was born to perform and his life-long love of the blues has never faltered. From his humble beginnings in the delta cotton fields to the blues stages of America, the blues have been a way of life for Willie Houston.
We are pleased and excited that Willie calls Colorado his home. Willie has played his delta blues in thousands of juke joints, clubs, bars, and event halls for more than 60-years.
With the release of his 2001 CD "Bluesman Willie Houston" he has a newfound popularity that has opened many ears to this grand electric delta style of an art form that has a very limited number of surviving alumni.
It is well known that for every bluesman like BB King, John Lee Hooker or Muddy Waters there were literally hundreds of delta bluesmen from that same era that didn't go to Memphis or Chicago. They were never heard by the likes of Alan Lomax or had a chance to record for the Library of Congress.
So goes the story of Willie Houston. Now at long last Willie Houston's time has come. With his self-titled CD on the Fasttrack label he has attracted attention from radio stations, newspapers and blues fans alike. If afforded the opportunity you simply must see, "Bluesman" Willie Houston.

The last couple years have seen Denver-based blues rockers Rev Hooch scratching out a solid reputation up and down the front range of Colorado by virtue of the band's excellent command of the time worn blues classics. Fronted by 27 year old Steve Mignano and backed up by rhythm section veterans David Brenowitz (drums) and Roc Eubanks (bass), Rev Hooch injects much needed new blood and young fans into a musical scene that oftentimes has more in common with graying baby boomers than today's 20 and 30 somethings.
But the difference between a great blues cover band and the blues rock greats such as Clapton, Cray, and SRV among others is the quality and delivery of a band's original songs. Do Rev Hooch's original songs stack up? Well, if the advance single from the band's upcoming debut album is any indication, I'd say the future looks pretty damn good.
Combining simple yet memorable lyrics, muscular guitar riffs, and thundering bass and drums that sound like they were borrowed off a heavy metal album, 'Grey Sky' looks to breathe new life into the blues rock genre. The Hooch brings out a massive dose of southern fried rock and roll that leaves many of the dusty blues music cliches far behind.

Best Blues Jam - 2011
While Ziggie's has long been hailed as Denver's oldest blues bar, in recent years it's expanded into other genres, such as rock, R&B and funk. In addition to an acoustic open-mike night on Mondays, an open jam on Tuesdays and a chance to sit in with featured musicians on Wednesdays, Ziggie's also boasts one of the longest-running blues jams in town on Sundays. And that's where the real action is. The Doc Brown Blues Band and the Blues Allstars alternate hosting the blues jams, which bring in a variety of solid musicians playing covers and originals. Keyboard players need not worry about bringing down a keyboard; the bar has one available for the jams, which kick off at 7 p.m.

Ziggie's has always been known as Denver's oldest blues bar, but ...Carla Jordan, who took over the place and remodeled it just over a year ago, have expanded the music selection by also bringing in R&B, funk, rock and jazz acts on Fridays and Saturdays. The other five nights are allotted to open mikes, alternately hosted by Doc Brown's Blues Band, Jasco from Mojambus, the Mike Maurer Band or Papa Juke. Whether you want to hone your chops with some stellar blues talent or just listen, Ziggie's is the place. And there's never a cover.
Ziggies is The Oldest Blues Bar in Denver & in Colorado...with a keen focus on live music, we have more than blues... we have R&B, groove, funk, new jazz, motown, swing, rock... and even a "Performance Poetry" night twice a month.
Ziggies has been afforded the great opportunity to present some of the best live local bands as well as regional, national, and even international touring acts.
No Cover Charge Sunday through Wednesday and the bands set the cover charge Thursday, Friday, & Saturday.
We've been told that this very well may be the longest standing Open Blues Jam in Denver and likely Colorado!
